First impressions of 30 pages or so.

Reading American Sniper, and easily intrigued over the "legend" of Chris Kyle, a sniper from the Navy SEALS.

I really was miserable this week, and I am not happy now.

So I picked up a new book to find some attempt at therapy. I can't remember my New Years Resolution completely, on how many books I wanted to read, but at least I remember that immersing feeling I get.

When starting Sniper, it first felt a little scary. What should I expect from New York bestsellers that brought 41, Agenda 21, and Killing Patton to the shelves? But I was looking for history or something on conventional military, because I was not touching romantic thriller.

I said it was "scary" because it looked from the first few pages that Kyle enjoyed to kill or destroy evil. As if his humanity was gone, so I was expecting some kind of lesson in enlightenment? He did admit that he had a sense of justice (protected his brother and such) and was brought up as a hard-worker like a hot-blooded horse broken for the field, so the SEALS provided him countless moments of anticipation through training and missions. He convinced himself as a soldier that the enemy in the Middle East, anything that obstructed the soldiers he had to protect were the enemy. And that you couldn't hesitate against the enemy. The more you read through the preliminary sequences, the more you did felt that Chris was losing himself. As in becoming different. That's because SEALS needed those who were steadfast.

Oo-rah Southern chest-beating Murica at its peak pretty much. Patriotism, God, you heard it before. A guy from Texas; he doesn't hold back to remind readers the social differences from "Yankees" such as myself.

You can't help but build respect for Mr. Kyle having gone through so much and with a lot of patience, even pre-military.

My week starts rough and ends rough. I had an ugly 'hate dream", which I didn't want to agree on, and my Sunday started rocky. Now I wonder about myself, and if my dream reflects myself. Or didn't I say before that dreams are mostly negative?

I almost didn't want to go anywhere.

Anyways...back to the title.

America is, apparently. And Britain isn't happy.

I'm sure most of us dislike war for obvious reasons, and either inside or stated openly, we have conflicting reasons over why we should go or why we should not go. First I thought, I agreed with what John Kerry said Liberals liberals, Lib-tards, whiners, dumbass, huah huah huah with "speaking to us [the people of the nation] for an answer" at the start of the announcement. I couldn't hear everything because I was in my car on a short break, listening to the radio.

Did America, and myself as an American, wanted payback for 9/11? Yes. Do I dislike violence? Yes. Do I like self-defense? Yes. Do I like to see innocent children and medical personnel get killed? NO! A one-track mind. Even in Hetalia (Axis Powers ヘタリア), America is portrayed with a "justice loving" stereotype. There's also a ton of other Japanese manga/anime and games; one that sticks out in my memory the most is my bro GALFORD from Samurai Showdown (Samurai Spirits) series! =D

But the question is: Why help Syria? Is America the Superman of the world?
And what would our image be if we did nothing?

Oh BTW,

More tipping politics scale. No idea why I was rambling about mentality )

I am not denying anything. I guess someone has to do it. Right needs to punch the Left radicals and Left needs to the punch the Right radicals. Wouldn't call it "news".

With that said, 50 years ago, MLK made his "I have a dream" speech.

I'm putting up a photo of Kaze Tachinu because:
1.) Airplane!
2.) Hirokoshi Jiro looking cool
3.) It's flat out cool
4.) Miyazaki Hayao's passion and pacifist beliefs
5.) I want to watch it

So Miyazaki is getting criticized for worshiping Hirokoshi as a hero. The movie is a tribute to the warplane engineer, his dream, and his struggle during the Depression and 1930s earthquake. Miyazaki spoke against the Prime Minister and his idea to revise the Renunciation of War of Japan's Constitution. Miyazaki was also against "re-writing the truth" (aka: reading only what we choose to know).

Banning of "Barefoot Gen" in children schools

I can't say anymore until I watch the movie. But, since Hiro was willingly building warplanes responsible for the historical incidents that make Japanese and Koreans alike sensitive, what is Miyazaki's view? What am I missing? Is it just Hiro's desire? No matter what his Zero fighter did?

Vehicles are flexible and don't have to be built as weapons. Even though, I TOO think that fighter planes are pretty darn cool. They maximum the effectiveness of aerodynamics, and look pretty sexy while flying.

Also, Miyazaki is retiring? Naaaaah, you wouldn't do that would you?

Which reminds me, I am writing a fictional story about a pilot who loves flying. He graduated from Officer's training and eventually became a fighter pilot, because he was inspired to love fighter planes. After a match against a rival, he mention that non-simulated air combat will be the test he needs to further pursing his flying craft. Before that, he questioned why America went to war and what did it mean to "be an American"?

Tired....

So, here's some stuff I hear on the radio, aside from kids and security guards getting shot in their homes and cars.

LINK:
- The 'Fight for 15' Grows
- 1-day fast food worker strike comes to Detroit

Invoking the people's voice is a good thing, but will this even work? Is it even necessary to risk? 15 an hour?

Which makes me wonder, how much do those in the military, both enlisted and officers, make? Since there is the potential of entering dangerous territory, I'd hope they're paid well. I don't get why anyone even consider, bring up, cutting pay for soldiers. Unless it was convenient.

I'll talk about my week soon. Here's a video:

Changed my tag "Quiz" to "Quiz and polls".

Since I had a dark entry yesterday, I guess I'll just talk about Seiyuu (voice actors from Japan) today to brighten me up. Some polls caught my interest. I wonder if I should make an Ishida Akira tag? I don't seem to talk about him much, even though I like them. When I make a tag, I'd like for it to be significant and used plenty of times as I blog.

There's also the new Seiyuu Awards, but I don't have much to say about that.

There's a website called ANIMEONE and there are personal polls. On twitter, it's called "Aniran". Found some seiyuu-related polls. To my disappointment, Katsuki can't rank properly on these polls, or mostly. If she is no where to be seen in EVEN the "Top sexiest voice" poll, then there's a problem. It ticked me off. I wish I would find that poll again, but Tanaka Atsuko and Sawashiro Miyuki topped it. Biased and correct at the same time. I kinda see Tanaka as K's younger sister.

1.) VA suitable in villain role (悪役が似合う声優ランキング)
INFO: Simple! Both genders are allowed. Top 3 are Koyasu Takehito, Ishida Akira, and Wakamoto Norio. Norio is pretty much one of the obligatory "villain voice actors". He's around the same level as Ogata Kenichi, Utsugi Kenji, Nakao Ryuusei (who's also in the poll), etc. He also plays the gangster-type character a lot too. To make it simple, he utilizes his astringent voice well. Still, I think being on the same side as Koyasu and Ishida, as much as I like their performances...I don't completely know. Both can play crazy and cool, especially Ishida. Fujiwawa Keiji is #4! ;D Why is Sawashiro so high...above Nakao Ryuusei, that's BS.

2.) Kindly turn to "Drill Sergeant" Role (「鬼軍曹」役に向いてます)
INFO: Very interesting one! In a literal sense, the Kanji means "Demon Sergeant". In any way, it's a leader; might refer to drill sergeant. Top 3 are Sawashiro Miyuki, Wakamoto Norio, and Chiba Saeko. Ummm...I guess if you want the tough girl with a side of cute, you get Sawashiro; fear and power all around, you get Norio. Again, it seems very biased choices, even when going below top 3. Not sure about why Chiba would be there or Tanaka Rie (Strike Witches).

The lady female Sargent, amazing! They're amazing. They don't have to sound manly, or deep and bitter (ie: Otsuka Akio), but the ladies STILL have to instill command into you. And get you to listen. Not instill a feeling of sex appeal or "she's cute"; btw, which reminds me, the darned sexist comments that I see on youtube about female sergeants.

Genda Tessho is a great choice. Oh man, Katsuki and SEKI TOMOKAZU (関智一) as drill sergeants would be scary. Here we have Seki:

"DO WE LOVE OUR SCHOOOOOOOOOOL?!?!" [Full Metal Panic SOUSUKE!]

Even if he's not yelling, he can have a rough voice so it's perfect. Sousuke wouldn't be good for training.... These two plays many soldiers/military-like characters.

3.) Do not forget Ishida Akira! (2013 version) (あの石田彰を忘れない)
INFO: I think the description of the poll says "Add memory of Ishida" [his performance]. Top 3 is Kaworu, Katsura and Shuusei. Ryuunosuke of FATE is #7. 2012 version is Katsura, Kaworu, and Athrun.

Already, halfway through the week. So, I need to do "Doggie Week" and another seiyuu meme day.

Did tidying yesterday; it's great to wake up to a clean place.

Today's military video:

Keeping up a good pace on my memes; "Doggie Week" is tomorrow or Tuesday. I should make that a "tag".

I am tired.

For tonight, going to briefly talk about gundam. JUST LIKE the seiyuu meme, I found a "30 Days on Gundam" meme, but I don't think I can do it at the moment. Maybe next year? Maybe in 2013, when everything has settled down, and I end up wherever, I'll have watched plenty of gundam. Cause I just started Zeta. Day 1 and Day 2 I should be able to answer easily, but the rest...seems to be for veterans.

30 Days of Gundam Meme )

Also, I learned how to create a Lj-spoiler! I am quite slow...

Now I don't have to use the "highlight to read" technique.

MS IGLOO Recollection
There are two parts of MS IGLOO, and a 3-episode sequel "Gravity Front". I have no idea what IGLOO could possibly mean. There doesn't seem to be a single hint. When I first heard about it, I thought maybe it was a mobile armor. In MOST cases, the title of a gundam work is named after a machine, a group, or a year. Like there's G (God) Gundam, there's W (Wing) Gundam, Gundam AGE, F91, Z (Zeta) Gundam, ZZ (double Zeta), etc. 08th MS Team is based on what is says: The 08th Mobile Suit unit commanded by Shiro Amada. SEED...there's only SEED mode.

The first two parts are called "Hidden One Year War" and Apocalypse 0079", both centering around the actions of an engineering squad of Zeon whose number and full designation I can barely remember. Olivier May is in charge of evaluating the machines and reporting about there at the end of the each ep. Turns out, as the One Year War progresses, these machines are conveyed as "obsolete" or "not that useful". In the first ep, the Jomangund anti-ship cannon, but is it out shined by the mobile suit Zaku forces.

Ogg (I think) is the Zeon Rival to the Federation's Ball, but were piloted by a ton of rookies. Not that regrettable. They also designed a Mobile Diver, a machine to perform atmospheric re-try to shoot down missiles.

If I know one thing, if you're a pilot to one of these machines, you're going to die. There's a death in a single episode. Heck, death really really revolves around this entire series, especially MS IGLOO 2. But hey, it's gundam. It's war, and you totally got to die in this franchise.

For MS IGLOO 2, we are taken to the Federation's point of view. Very reminiscent of a war movie, especially with the CGI. Ben Barberry looks like a familiar actor, or someone you'd usually see acting as a main role in a war film? Anyways, I found MS IGLOO 2 a little...scary. Each main character was touched by a Death God (impersonate as a beautiful female floating around), and each one just had a terrible trauma. And they really...lose their sanity.

Actually, I think Ben (first ep main character) was very unlucky. The last two are insane because they carried a grudge. It's just awful to watch.

Zeta Gundam
Starts off rough. Kamille Bidan (Nobuo Tobita!) is the main character, and he shows newtype potential quite early in the show, but he seems to be from Earth? Kamille hates the TITANS for some reasos. Oh yeah, he is quite a rebellious jerk. Still, it's strange for him to jump out a jeep and to leave home to join AEUG. Or maybe I am not understanding something?

The TITANS are not-so-nice people. In Gundam 00, there are the A-LAWS; an autonomous force, the TITANS committed themselves to oppressing/destroying the Zeon movement, utilizing radical means to do so such as attacking a colony with poison gas. TITANS work for the Federation though; Kamille's parents seem to work for the TITANS, and Kamille criticized his dad about a mistress he's been working with.

The show doesn't start off happy at all like I said. Kamille's attitude and the TITANS's cruel way of getting their way makes the start interesting. OK

This week, I spent time recovering. And it seems like I am catching a cold again?! How unfair.

Why is the entry titled "Energies"? Cause they play a role in the recovery, because they effect a person deeply.

The positive energy of bonds. Sunday, I was sad; Monday, I visited the funeral home; Tuesday was the funeral; Wednesday was the burial; Thursday up until now, I thought over what was important; and either today or yesterday, I started getting sick with a cold again. Probably from my niece.

I say "energy of bonds" because of friends and family. Tuesday, I saw people come together to talk to my mother and give their condolences, catch up on things, also pray quietly. When I saw that, I started to feel better that my family had good relationships. On Tuesday, I probably spent faaaaaar more time than usual in front of people to give out remarks. I felt better expressing the influence of someone I was close to, and someone who wasn't returning.

Wednesday was the burial. And I guess, him being a veteran, I felt some strength as well. Family was given an American flag, and it was dignified to watch.

Cards were sent, there were phone calls, there were visitors...

I need to be active as if I were to die tomorrow.

FIRE!

I was looking around CareerBuilder, and saw job postings from the U.S Army Reserve. Among there were Military police and fire police. It just made me remember how I was interested in firefighters long ago, and I also thought how recently there is controversial discussions about "government workers".

Your duties as an Army Firefighter may include:

Performing rescue and firefighting operations during structural fires, aircraft crash incidents, vehicle emergencies and natural cover fires
Performing emergency response duties during hazardous materials incidents
Inspecting aircraft, buildings and equipment for fire hazards
Teach fire protection procedures
Repair firefighting equipment and filling fire extinguishers

I asked myself, "maybe I'd like to take part in something that could help people". Something that can make people, children and adults, and even elders, tell me "thank you".

But...I couldn't be a military dog, could I? bad physique and such.

Maybe I thought of the forest blaze today in Colorado.

Niece
HAha, she's growing up. She is almost a year old and is walking a lot. But, that makes her extra curious.

My niece follows me a lot. I can't count how many time she opened my room door. She's shorter than than my bed so I can't see her sometimes.

Niece: *Door open*
Me: ?! *looks* .. *Hears footsteps*
Niece: *Appears around corner* =D

MARIO KART
I'm making progress. It's slow, but I'm doing it. I think I'm getting better at inside drifting. It's a lot more like real life drifting; it's risky but I can get you through those tight turns plus give you a boost.

So far, I've attained all gold trophies on 50cc and 100cc.

150 cc is a problem...

I also got 2-star rank on one of my 100cc tracks. At least it's not impossible for me!

Drift vid! Cars rule!

No way I can be a Navy SEALS; matter of fact, females can't take part in Navy Seals. I don't want to enlist into them military, but these are still some good tips.

Hi! I'm here with dinner! HOT DAY!

I wanted to be a soldier once...but why? Furthermore, would I have had the fortitude and the dedication to be a real soldier? Would I be able to face the social pressure of peers? Would I have another smarts and focus to handle my career?

Being a pilot is quite a demanding task. You have to be an officer, which requires (?) you to have a bachelor's. Or maybe I am wrong? There is officer academy, but I am thinking about the demands of being a fighter pilot.

This lady did something extraordinary...

MUSIC!

Read more in the link.

It’s tough for most Americans to learn much about the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan that the U.S. military has waged since 9/11. So it’s all the more important to pay attention when combat chronicles – and their impact back home – surface.

Anna Simon covered the 2004 death in Iraq of Kimberly Hampton for South Carolina’s The Greenville News. She became friendly with Kimberly’s mother, Ann Hampton, after writing a series of articles about Kimberly. The pair chatted with Battleland via email recently about their book, Kimberly’s Flight: The Story of Captain Kimberly Hampton, America’s First Woman Combat Pilot Killed in Battle:

How did Kimberly N. Hampton die?

Ann Hampton, mother: Kimberly was flying an OH-58D Kiowa Warrior helicopter above the outskirts of Fallujah, Iraq, providing cover for ground troops raiding an illicit weapons marketplace when she was shot down on Jan. 2, 2004.

She chose to lead her troops on a mission she knew would be particularly dangerous. It was a mission others were slated to lead. While her death left her father and me with a hole in our hearts that will never heal, she left a powerful legacy of dedication to her mission, to her troops, and to her country that fills us with pride.
