doggiedynasty: (Busy and Books)

I'm a bit embarrassed by this, but found a writing meme from [livejournal.com profile] chaosmindfuck. I was bored, so I thought to myself, "Could I possibly do this?"

I'm embarrassed because I don't talk about what I write; least, not on this blog. ON THIS BLOG, I talk about what I read, and that I do attempt to write, but nothing too specific. I often worry over my grammar and get discouraged by others. Chaos seems to be very fascinated about fanfiction and shares links to many. I, on the other hand, don't write anywhere on Livejournal or social networking sites.

Anyone can write, but my views on fanfiction can be ambivalent. I am impressed by works which show that a fan is in tune with what he/she enjoys. He/she knew what he viewed from pre-made content and can deliver it into another story.

On the other hand, fanfiction can make me a bit upset. Like, I can't believe what I see from those who like the Sonic the Hedgehog series. I dislike bad characterization. It doesn't have to be perfect, but writing a story is always an attempt.

Eh...I'm rambling.

This meme may be boring.

I pick 2011 to now because it's easier for me to remember ^_^: I am like the BIGGEST SLOWPOKE. I can't get anything done. It takes me approx three months to get a single chapter in anything done, unless it's incredibly short. So my pacing in any story feels like a lifetime, and it feels like my adventure comes from drafting and revising.

I started on a few stories in 2011, which still being worked on.

BEGIN!

My Favorite Story This Year / Best Story This Year: These were two separate questions, but I just don't know if they should be. Also, 2013 isn't over yet. I guess my favorite so far is SolAka.

Story most under-appreciated by the universe, in my opinion: It might be my Monster Rancher fic. I really want to see more fans of Monster Rancher.

Most Fun Story: It's Heroic Blaze SolAka. So fun because of the tributes to Super Sentai, and super robots from the 70s and 80s (or 90s if you count Eldran with its animal theme). It's like TvTropes.

Most Sexy Story: I dislike smut/lemon...I never did a sexy story. When it comes to writing anything sensual, I have little confidence in it. For now, for now. I want to be really careful and considerate.

Story with Single Sexiest Moment: See above. No answer.

Story with Single Sweetest Moment: Ummm...this is just a guess because of what a reviewer said about my Monster Rancher fic In my fic, the pack of brothers Gray Wolf and Tiger were killed. Tiger is just days old, and Gray Wolf has to both teach his baby brother about death and encourage him. If you have ever played a MR game, seeing your monster dying totally sucks.

Most Unintentionally Telling Story: Not sure what this means. Chaos seems to say "having force or revealing info". So, does this mean a lot of exposition? I think Stalwart Silver because I was worried about it. I wanted to talk about demons and their impact on folklore; also, in the first chapter, I describe the Vatican.

"Holy crap, that's wrong, even for you" story: None? even though, I am planning stories about the mafia and prostitution?

Biggest surprise: Surprise how?

Hardest story to write: Heroic Blaze SolAka. Its difficulty is what's holding me back, because of my lack of knowledge to/exposure in the mecha and sci-fi genre. I really want to give it justice. And researching takes up so much of my time.

Easiest story to write: Probably "Trio of Iga". I was lax with it because I based it on the Three Billy Goats Gruff (De tre bukkene Bruse). It's a story about kids.

This year's theme and the story that demonstrates it most: I don't know? I really just want to progress faster.

Here's Monster Rancher. Goodnight.

You did the meme! :)

Hmm.. honestly, I wasn't sure what the meme creator meant about the "Most Unintentionally Telling Story" part. Which definition of telling did he/she mean? Argh, I can't remember where I found the meme though. So I just went with the "revealing information" definition, cos I felt it made more sense. Haha.

I wasn't sure about "Biggest surprise" either. I'm guessing, maybe something surprising in the fic? Haha. I don't know, I wrote other stuff though.

But seriously, Doggie, I think you need more confidence in your writing. Because it's good. And remember, I'm not familiar with the fandoms you write for, and don't usually read original fics, so it does take talent to keep someone like me interested in your fics.

I think Penitent Feathers is still your best. :)

I'm sure you can write anything (including smut). Don't listen to anyone who discourages you - they're probably just envious of your talent. And even if they aren't, who gives a fuck about anyone's opinion?

Write for yourself. Cos you're awesome. :)

I probably already told you this before. I mostly discourage myself because I keep seeing others getting more recognition. Especially if they write redundantly and give off the image that it's a great work. IF you keep getting praise, you'll assume you're doing the right thing. Also, you set an example.

Outside of net works, when I read novels, I assume that they have the quality needed to be published, therefore are good stories. When I read, I can't remember the vocab and structure.

Smut is...

no one outside of myself is discouraging me from writing it. I don't like it much, and I think love scenes should take more consideration to write. But smut also gets a lot of recognition.

Well, I suppose the most important thing is to just write what makes you happy, and whatever you're comfortable with.

I think that people who write for the sake of getting praise/reviews (and there are lots of them in fandom) are doing so with wrong motives. I mean, writing - like anything else - should be a passion, not a means to attain recognition or approval.

And remember, just cos the majority likes it, doesn't mean it's a good story. The Twilight Saga, for instance.

I'm not trying to tell you how or what to write or anything, Doggie. I'm just trying to show some support and encouragement cos I really believe you do have what it takes to be a brilliant writer. But I just feel that you should write whatever you want, however you want, because YOU love it.

And not to worry if anyone likes it or not, or if others are getting recognition or not. Write for yourself, everything else is just bonus.
