I got this from [livejournal.com profile] xlumierex. Here's the directions, quote:

Comment to this post, and I will list five things I associate with you. They might make sense or they might be totally random. Then post that list, with your commentary, to your LJ (or just add a reply back to me). Other people (including me) can get lists from you, and the meme merrily perpetuates itself.

I think this is the second time I did this:

Here's the five Lumie gave me.

OK
1. Dogs
2. Seiyuu
3. Video games
4. American voice actors/actresses
5. Books

Makes sense I guess. I'm going to talk about the American VOs first before the seiyuu (Japan's VOs).

1.) BOOKS: I wonder if comic books can go here too? Um, anyways. I like stories, and while I can read well enough, I don't think I've been that much of an avid reader. To me, reading and books are the path to being pretty sharp, but I had my frustrations that probably led me to read less in later years. Or I just ended up not finish reading novels. Every since I was younger, I often forget dialogue, composition, and sometimes the names of the characters. I read a lot of fantasy and military-based stories. Tried to get into science fiction a bit better, so I want to re-read Gundam Sentinel.

2.) DOGS: Where can I begin? Always loved dogs. Many of my usernames are centered around canines. Cutie pies, various appearances and personalities, and I always like hearing stories about how they work with soldiers and the police. Also, how they protect/save their owners from danger (like in the previous entry). I had my first dog, a dachshund mix, on my 7th birthday. He only had the dachshund face and was bigger in size. Dad didn't approve of it at first, but he grew on us. =D

3.) American voice actors/actresses: The magic of cartoons, radio, narration, etc. I think I really like enthusiastic acting (and sounds), and voice actors made made really enjoy radio and cartoons. Take Tom and Jerry and Looney Tunes for instance. I remember being a little envious of Mel Blanc. Guy probably played a one-hundred characters. Majority of the time you could recognize voices but you were still entertained (I see you, Jim Cummings! I love you!).

I rarely talk about my favorite American VAs don't I? And I mean the ones that primarily voice non-dub works. I lot of people like Mark Hamill. Who knew he'd be so prolific and good at what he does? Um, I can't really select a few favorite. Like Blanc, I'm envious of Frank Welker. Kevin Michael Richardson is pretty cool too. I'm surprised he was picked to voice Joker in The Batman. For the ladies, there's Jennifer Hale. I need to think on this a little more because I know I'm forgetting some names that I'd really like to list, especially for females. I need some good refreshing. Maybe I'll go visit http://behindthevoiceactors.com/

Nolan North is great too.

4.) Seiyuu: Seiyuu means "voice actor" in Japan. Watching Japanese animation easily adopted my love of VAs. Or maybe I should say "imported"? I talk about them plenty if you look at my tags. They also do radio, narration, a variety of cartoon shows, dubbing, singing (so does the VAs in American kid cartoons), etc. I am entertained by the flexibility of both American and Japanese VOs.

I think Ueda Yuji, a favorite of mine, is a fantastic character actor. He shouts "cartoon". A young character, an animal or monster (ie: game characters like Blanka), a gag character, someone who talks fast, a serious person, and it's attractive. I'm never tired of it. Oh yeah, he sings quite a bit too. I think Takagi Wataru is around the same area as Ueda too. He is the Japanese voice of Daffy Duck after all ;) Ishida Akira is cool too!

I don't have many favorite female seiyuu. There is Hayashibara Megumi and Katsuki Masako. While she's very good at what she does, especially singing, Hayashibara feels too much like an idol. She was probably the most publicized (or one of them) female Japanese VO of the 1990s. Even now, like with Miyano Mamoru and Hirano Aya, it feels that the recognition of pop stars and/or young actors are reaching into the voice over world and they are given a wide variety of roles because of that. Aki Toyosaki? Kind of like Hollywood actors in Disney movies. Sort of.

5.) Video Games: There would be too much to talk about. While I am behind in playing with the recent game consoles (ie: PS3, 3DS, XB360), I am an avid gamer. I enjoy playing and watching video games. Anything games in general, even watching game shows, but that's going off topic. I am obviously a fan of Sonic of Hedgehog, also Sega and Nintendo. My favorite Nintendo character is probably Yoshi.

I'd like to play Monster Hunter, Halo, DEAD SPACE, Tenchu, and Call of Duty at least once. I'm not that great with fighting games; beat'em up I was alright with (ie: Streets of Rage), but not fighting and shooting games. I used to play a lot of Flight simulation games and racing games. I also like to get over my "Survival Horror" anxiety (lol). I'm quite a chicken. Played Resident Evil Zero (Biohazard Series) and got goosebumps from just hearing the zombie sounds. If I can't get over it, I can't play Dead Space! (><).

All done.

Oh, so you're into American voice actors first rather than the Japanese ones. I'm completely the opposite. Although many people hate him, I like Johnny Yong Bosch the best. XD

Well, it's not that I'm into them first. They are the ones who started it all. I don't want to ignore them because their influence on me is strong. If it weren't for them, I wouldn't like cartoons. Me being a fan would lead to anime (and liking their seiyuu). Hope that...makes sense.

I like Bosch too ;)

But Bosch is more of a anime/dubber VA. Don't you have an American cartoon (exclusively I guess) VA that you like?

Like Dee Bradley Baker for example?

or game VA?
