I think they're forgiving him for their own benefit, rather than his. It doesn't undo what he did... but I'm with you. I would find it hard to forgive, so quickly. And I'm not sure I'd be telling the person I forgave them, either. That would be something I would have to do for myself. Because otherwise you just get swallowed up by hate, and that's not going to help you (and he won't care).
