A little recap or recollection of what I finished this year.
I've been wondering why I enjoyed the most and it seems hard to find.Almost want to quit anime and stick with live-action.
============
- Mobile Suit Gundam-san
Somethings are better as a comic. I cannot describe what I just saw. It wasn't bad, but it was just...mind-blowing strange.
- Gundam UNICORN
REZEL~
Finally ended this year. Amazing visuals, from emotion to battle. But that's about it. It's another gundam: In terms of war, spacenoids and earthnoids are paranoid of one another. I made a funny! A reflection of all things true today, and trying to shadow history for human's sake. But that's our opinion.
"The choice is theirs to make"
"Humans interpret laws differently to suit the best interests" (or something along those lines)
"The will of the collective". I didn't find Bananger particularly interesting though. Because the plot was a big clop of complex mess, he found himself flip-flop with each faction because his gundam was an important key. This effects virtually all of the crew members and how they faced the fate surrounding Laplace.
- PSYCHO PASS (S1)
Season 1 is old but I finished it in preparation for Season 2. Plus, it kept getting higher marks so was curious. Glad I picked it up since it is a reflection of today and set in a place of how we face restriction, or heavy rules of law, and how it can make things harmonious. The results are interesting. PP is gritty. In crime drama, however, you always expect the detectives to hastily figure out leads even if not very detectable.
- Aldnoah ZERO (S1)
COMMENT: A case of main character cheating by allowing viewers to believe that he excels in science so much that can form hasty tactics and dodge his way out of certain death while facing alien-powered machines with a real robot. I guess that's one part of how this show is interesting. Well, I'll give Inaho credit: He uses DEFENSE. My feelings for this show is in-between. I like the idea of it: MARS ATTACKS! But the character design is plain as a brick. The Earth Kats are alright; not the best CGI though. I would like to see more of the Mars clans. And being Slaine is hell.
- Captain Earth
This gets in the list for Top Summer anime of 2014 of Japanese Otaku. Very weird. It's BONES after all. Trying to muster all I learned from sci-fi and see if I can make connections to something out of this. Not sure if Neoteny, Orgone, and Libido has anything to do with anything involving space guns or avatars ^-^; Sure, Libido can refer to energy quite easily, especially with the kissing involved. Hana Mutou also gets into a list of favorite female characters this year. I don't know why though. She is a sweet girl, but is it the fanservice? The KiltGang are cool though.
I was happy to see Irino Miyu again being cool (while watching Kamen Rider OOO). All in All, it's complex terminology thrown in your face with civil dispute.
Salty Dog/Ark is utter terrible. Teppei said it better, "WHY ARE YOU FIGHTING US?!" Then there's the friggin' MacBeth, which made me want to bang my head on the wall.
- Knights of Sidonia
Short series throughout Summer 2014. Did not disappoint me because it was fun. The CGI when it came to space battle was actually comfortable for me to look at, while being a little gruesome. If it took a step up and went the way of the 80s, I think it'd be better in the grisly level. There is a feeling of desperation: one orbiting (?) colony vs alien war. Kids training to find the aliens, and they're not even born conventionally because they are not on Earth. So they "eat" or obtain their nutrients differently. Manipulation of genetics that sci-fi loves to use. Tanikaze is different somehow.
- Nobunaga The Fool
Ended Summer 2014. I guess people think if they put Miyano Mamoru, Sakurai Takahiro, Sugita Tomokazu, Nakamura Yuichi, and Kaji Yuki in anything, it's a hit. You can't help but like them because they're active and obtain main roles. Not sure how I got through: It was average. I watched this along side Buddy Complex. Two mech series, I wondered what I liked the most. The combat is mostly CGI and just rocky. The machines look like rocks, and the fighting is upsetting most of the time.
and being Jeanne/Ranmaru is hell as well. Since it is based on Feudal Times, you do have your political movements between East and West. So that makes the exchanges from Ceasar interesting. There's also the show's renditions of familiar super warlords like Kenshin (<BUDDY COMPLEX
The TV series ended about Spring 2014, while the two final specials aired recently. This is average hands down. I got through because it's fun and had lot of potential when it came to exploring the Buddy System. But this SHORT series was mostly focused on Hina and Aoba + how the System just about flawlessly supported the Cygnus crew during the war. I mean nearly flawless. The combat was alright too. Little to no CGI, but fast-paced. Better compared to Nobunaga.
- Gundam Build Fighters
This can't get anymore perfect when it comes to showing tribute to gundam so far. Since it's gunpla, there's customization of the many models you know and love. Enjoyed every bit of it. What drives me nuts is that some of the toughest machines you see on this show are wiped out for fodder's sake. You can't just beat Throne Zwei, Psycho gundam, Gebra Tetra, and The O so easily. Definitely an entertaining show. MOEAGARE! GUNPLAAAAAAAAAAA!
- Saint Seiya OMEGA (Season 2)
S2 ended Spring 2014. If you like fighting, techniques, getting hurt and getting back up, talk on friends and faith in yourself and others, then this is for you. Getting used to that though, and after watching the classic version, Omega could've been handled better, especially with the animation and some returning characters. I think Ikki broke the budget (lol). Definitely had its ups and down. It's tinkering between best show and worse show of this year. Now like THE LOST CANVAS, the golds are cool.
