So now I am on episode 5 of Mobile Suit Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket. I'm really breezing through and I now want to put down some thoughts.
Like crazy names such as "Officer Killing".
The story is mostly optimistic even with fighting, which is surrounding a little boy.
Can't you see, that you are sweet? Oh let me love you sooooo~
Sooo, the main character is Alfred (Al) Iruhza, who is voiced by Daisuke Namikawa who was barely a teenager (\^^/). My thoughts are mainly centered on this kid. While watching WITP, I had little flashbacks when I was like maybe...five years old? Al is eleven and obviously naive but I thinks it's gone too far out of bounds. What did you do at a young age? Easily trust strangers? Dislike bad things? Love to play? Love of machines?
So in the 2nd episode, Zeon pilot Bernard Wiseman crashed on Side 6 and exchanged his badge for the tape in Al's camera, which has footage to where the Gundam mobile suit "Alex" is. He totally wanted that badge because he thinks soldiers and MSs are really cool. In the same ep, Al easily shows characteristics highly similar to real life kids such as "like of guns" and "strong curiosities". I think if you had the chance to sit in a Zaku's cockpit, you'd totally take it. I thought that was the cutest. Also him pretending to be an soldier, "Petty Officer, Alfread Iruhza! (Salute)".
But I think he got too obsessed with the Zeon team. The team is "Cyclops" which Bernie had just recently joined. The leader, whose name escapes me at the moment so I'll just call him "Captain", allowed the boy to join the team so that he could give them info. He even infiltrated inside the hidden Side 6 factory with Bernie to take photos of Gundam Alex. He's also really sharp, he knew his way around and how to avoid getting caught.but can't get your test grades up huh?
I know kids are naive, but geez. He just has no sense of consequence. To quote Bernie, an optimist.
Aside from that, 0080 is very cute. Nice music, and the character designer also worked on Gunbuster. No wonder the face of Al reminded me of Takaya Noriko so much. Especially his mouth and eyes.
Gets gory in episode 4, which is probably where the typical gundam action starts. I like Gundam Alex's Arm Vulcan! Bernie is also likable too! Since I finished 0079 recently, it was nice to see the GMs and Zaku fighting. I think I saw a Guncannon too? And a new White base?!
